Community Support and Infrastructure grants program now open

The ACT Government is inviting applications for grants of up to $10,000 through its Community Support and Infrastructure Grants program.

The $200,000 program is open to community groups from all corners of the ACT to apply for funding towards infrastructure upgrades, equipment purchases, running new programs or training staff and volunteers to enhance organisational capacity.

Minister for Families and Community Services Rachel Stephen-Smith said community organisations are an essential part of flourishing societies – supporting them to do their important work is a priority for the ACT Government.

“There is an incredible range of non-government organisations in the ACT providing services and opportunities that build a more engaged and inclusive city. From empowering disadvantaged or vulnerable Canberrans to celebrating diversity and supporting creativity and the arts, community organisations enrich our community,” Minister Stephen-Smith said.

“Last year’s Community Support and Infrastructure Grants program contributed to more than 40 projects, including upskilling disability support workers, establishing a wellbeing garden at a youth homelessness centre and providing translation services for a perinatal support program.

“I encourage community organisations right across Canberra to consider how their organisation could benefit from these grants and to apply,” Minister Stephen-Smith said.

Grants are available for a wide range of services and equipment such as:

  • improving organisations’ business and management skills
  • strategic and business continuity planning
  • furniture
  • minor building upgrade and fixed infrastructure
  • minor capital works like landscaping, repairs to shared bathrooms or kitchens
  • energy efficiency measures
