Community to shape public art at upgraded Gippsland Line stations

Vic Department of Transport

Input from local communities will inspire new public artworks to be integrated into the designs of upgrades to stations being delivered as part of the Gippsland Line Upgrade.

Locals and passengers are being invited to complete a short survey about how the artworks at Bunyip, Longwarry, Morwell and Traralgon stations should look and feel.

Have your say via our online survey before 5pm on Friday 12 November.

Four key themes identified by people who complete the survey will be provided to artists to guide their submissions to the project.

The resulting public artworks installed as part of the project will become important features for the community, residents and visitors alike.

Rail Projects Victoria works with regional artists and communities to deliver creative works as part of its projects, including the Gippsland Line Upgrade.

Proven benefits of including creative works as part of rail infrastructure projects include:

  • creating welcoming spaces and destinations
  • enhancing people’s experiences as they travel around the local area
  • fostering community and cultural identity and creating a positive civic legacy.
