Complete Council’s community water survey for chance to win

MidCoast Council

With National Water Week on the calendar again this October, MidCoast Council is conducting a community survey to gain a greater understanding of how residents think about and value water.

The survey is brief, easy to complete, and best of all – just by taking part you’ll go in the draw to win one of five $100 ShopMidCoast gift cards, which can be used at more than 250 businesses across the region.

Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott, said the results of the survey would help inform strategies to deal with future water shortages.

“Our community has faced extreme drought and flood over the past two years, and we’re keen to find out how these events have influenced the way people use water,” said Mr Scott.

“We also want to know what our community knows about water. Despite being essential to our survival, water isn’t necessarily a subject we all learned about in a structured or in-depth way at school, and our knowledge can come from a range of sources and experiences.

“I’d encourage everyone to complete the survey because it’s inevitable we’ll face droughts and floods again, and the more we understand people’s attitudes and knowledge levels, the more we can build our resilience against those events.”

Mr Scott said the survey wasn’t the only thing Council had planned for National Water Week, which will run from 18-24 October this year.

“While our Whizzy visits have had to be cancelled because of the COVID situation, we’ll still be sending out activity packs to schools across the region.

“Keep an eye on our social media as well as we’ll be sharing a bunch of water-related initiatives and information throughout the month.”
