Connecting on Concourse

We’re commencing community engagement from Monday, 4 September 2023 to seek community feedback to help understand how the community feels about the Beaumaris Concourse gateway sign and permanent structure design concepts. We’re gathering ideas to improve design elements and uncover ideas to inform the use and fit out of the shelter to meet local needs and aspirations.

From its inception in September 2021, the temporary marquee on the Beaumaris Concourse has risen in popularity. Born through a desire for public open-air, sheltered gathering places after the emergence of COVID-19, the structure has evolved with the addition of picnic tables, planter boxes and lighting. Locals have attributed the space to supporting a connected and healthy community and attracting visitors to the local business district.

With overwhelming community and trader support for the structure to become permanent, we’re seeking your feedback on the design concepts for the permanent shelter on the Green as well as the new Concourse gateway sign. The gateway will define the village entrance, assist the Concourse’s one-way traffic management. add new street-front appeal, and further encourage visitation to the commercial centre.

Along with community feedback, the placemaking initiative will align with the Bayside 2050 Community Vision, the Beaumaris Concourse Masterplan, the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2022-24, the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021 – 25, the Bayside City Council Plan 2021 – 25 and other related Council plans and strategies.

View the concept designs and join the conversation before consultation closes on 25 September 2023.

Have your say.
