Construction Ramps Up for Yarrila Place

Coffs Harbour City

Construction efforts are progressing well, August saw the completion of bulk excavation, commencement of detail excavation and the construction of foundations along with inground works.

This month favourable weather will allow for a few significant milestones to be reached, including concrete pours to the basement floors and the installation of the tower crane.

The tower crane will be erected over the weekend of 25-26 September and at a height of 46 metres will be a noticeable feature in the skyline of Coffs Harbour.

Construction Certificate 2 has been issued and relates to Stage 2 – Structure and Services works only excluding Gordon Street Brick wall, Façade and Internal works, excluded items will be the subject of subsequent construction certificates as per the builder’s staged approach.

Coffs Harbour City Council General Manager Steve McGrath said it is pleasing that construction is being achieved in a timely manner in this challenging COVID-19 environment.

“It is great to see the progress being made. The tower crane will definitely bring some presence to the city centre and the casting of the ground floor slab will be another significant milestone.

“Along with the rest of the Cultural and Civic Space Project Board we look forward to watching the structure of the Yarrila Place building take shape.

“This much needed piece of community and cultural infrastructure will deliver benefits for generations to come.”
