Yarra City Council is on track to deliver a new green space for community at Cambridge Street Reserve in Collingwood.
Construction is underway on the $1.9 million open space project which will double the original size, adding a further 900sqm.
Yarra City Council Mayor, Claudia Nguyen, said the park is well needed with just 0.3% open space in the total area of Collingwood.

The park will be filled with great features including a lawn area with plants and trees, some new play equipment, a drinking fountain and dog water bowl, bike facilities, exercise equipment and more lighting.
At its meeting on 6 December 2022, Council passed a resolution to discontinue Cambridge Street at the intersection of Peel Street to expand the existing park.
Works on the park commenced in early 2023 and are scheduled to finish in late October 2023.
Yarra City Council is delivering the new park with the support of the Victorian Government.
In addition to this Collingwood open space, Council is also currently proposing a new pocket park in Richmond.
The new space would be created by closing the western end of Charlotte Street (between Church and St Crispin streets, in front of Richmond Library) to turn it into a small pocket park.
Charlotte Street Pocket Park would provide greenery, shade and seating for the community, making it an area to relax in and meet friends.
