Convert analogue media to digital at library

Is your wedding tape on VHS? Is your favourite song caught on cassette?

You will no longer have to see your ‘memories box’ of old videos, vinyls and cassettes gathering dust.

Bring your most cherished memories from your past into your present with a self-help digital conversion station at Sandringham library.

Bayside Libraries launched a DIY Conversion Digital station where you can convert all your analogue media into digital formats.

This free initiative is limited to one booking per week for up to three hours until 19 December 2023.

Formats available:

  • VHS to Digital (requires a USB drive)
  • Vinyl Record and Cassette Tape to MP3 (requires a USB drive)
  • Slides and Negatives (requires an SD card)

Here is what you need to know:

  • The digital conversion process takes place in real-time. For example, if your record runs for 20 minutes, it will take 20 minutes to digitize.
  • This is a self-serve workstation. Instructions are provided, but library staff may not be able to provide comprehensive technical support.
  • The library is not responsible for any damage customer may incur to their personal property when using this workstation.
  • You must supply your own storage media (such as USB or SD card) to save your digitized files to.
  • Bookings are limited to one three-hour session per week.
  • This equipment is for personal use only and is not to be used for commercial purposes.
