Isaac Regional Council’s $57.6 million capital works budget will focus on core services in renewing and upgrading key roads and community infrastructure.
Almost 100 capital projects are planned through the 2023-24 Budget that was handed down today.
Mayor Anne Baker said this is a budget for the times as Council navigates through challenging social, environmental and economic conditions.
“Our main focus is delivering on our core business and funding our long-term community and road projects,” Mayor Baker said.
“We have invested $17.7 million into renewing and upgrading our roads, drainage, and infrastructure.
“A total of $12.7 million will go towards our waste management facilities plus $11.9 million for our community facilities, hubs and to uphold compliance at our eight pools.
“The region’s water infrastructure will receive $5.6 million to renew and upgrade infrastructure and our sewer network will see $1.6 million invested.
“About $6.6 million will go towards Council’s plant, fleet, properties, and workshops. We have $930,000 towards our services, support and safety and $575,000 for our parks and open spaces.”
This budget also considered the operational management and maintenance of the region’s 19 community facilities, eight aquatic facilities, eight water treatment plants, six wastewater treatment plants, nine waste management facilities and will support more than 240 events region-wide, 99 parks and playgrounds and 4,500km of sealed and unsealed roads.
