Victoria was notified of 950 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. All were locally acquired.
There are 9,890 active cases in Victoria – 9,888 locally acquired and two overseas-acquired cases.
There are 371 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria. 81 of those cases are in intensive care, with 55 cases on a ventilator.
Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of seven deaths – a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 70s, three women and one man in their 80s and a woman in her 90s.
This brings the total number of deaths from the current outbreak to 36, and the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 856.
The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 35,904.
Update: Border
At 11:59pm tonight, the following changes to Victoria’s Extreme Risk Zone permit will come into effect:
Victorian residents who have been in an extreme risk zone at any time since the zone started over the last 14 days can get an extreme risk zone permit at Service Victoria to enter Victoria, if:
- You have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (unless you are under 18 or have a medical exemption from a medical practitioner)
- You have tested negative to COVID-19 in the 72 hours before entering Victoria
When in Victoria, you will have to:
- Quarantine immediately upon arrival in Victoria and stay in quarantine for 14 days, regardless of any negative test result.
- Get tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours of arriving, and again on Day 13 of your quarantine period.
If you are not a Victorian resident, you are not eligible for an extreme risk zone permit.
Even if you are a Victorian resident, you are also not eligible if you have been to an exposure site, if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, if you are a close contact with someone who has COVID-19, or if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.

Update: Restrictions
City of Latrobe entered a seven-day lockdown at 11.59pm yesterday with restrictions the same as those in metropolitan Melbourne (excluding the curfew). For more information, visit City of Latrobe to enter seven day lockdown tonight.

Vaccines
Yesterday, 34,028 vaccine doses were administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services.
The total number of doses administered through state-run services is 3,497,806.

There are currently more than 27,000 active primary close contacts in isolation in Victoria.
At midday today, there were more than 610 published exposure sites in Victoria – but the most prevalent exposure site in Victoria is the family home.

There may be occasions when the Department is unable to make contact with a business or residential premises before their listing as an exposure site. At all times, we take the decision of when to publish these sites in the interests of public health.
The Department regularly manages exposure sites that it doesn’t publish online, particularly if these sites represent lower-risk exposure, or if they have comprehensive record-keeping and contact-tracing measures, or if they identify small, private locations – including smaller apartment or townhouse complexes.
Wastewater testing
COVID-19 viral fragments have been detected in wastewater samples taken from the following regional areas:
- Cobram – there have been repeated unexpected detections in Cobram in an area that includes Cobram. The period of interest is 20-27 September.
- Seymour – there have been repeated unexpected detections in an area that includes Seymour. The period of interest is 19-27 September.
- Ballarat – there have been repeated unexpected detections in an area that includes Lake Gardens, Mitchell Park and Wendouree. The period of interest is 15-28 September.
- Bendigo area – There has been an unexpected wastewater detection in an area that includes East Bendigo, Wellsford, Strathdale, Kennington, Strathfieldsaye and Junortoun. The period of interest is 21-23 September.
The detections could be an undiscovered new case or cases or could be the result of one or more people in these areas who have recovered from COVID-19 but are still shedding the virus.
Anyone who lives in, works in or has visited the areas above is urged to watch for the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms and get tested as soon as possible if symptoms develop.

61,322 COVID-19 tests were processed yesterday.
