Council appoints General Manager Strategy and Growth

Mildura Rural City Council is pleased to announce the appointment of the organisation’s first General Manager Strategy and Growth.

Peter Alexander has been successful in securing the key position following a competitive external recruitment process, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the new role.

As General Manager for Strategy and Growth, Peter will be responsible for areas including:

  • strategic planning
  • statutory planning
  • arts, culture and venues
  • future planning
  • economic development and tourism.

Council Chief Executive Officer Martin Hawson said Peter’s extensive track record of transformative strategic leadership at national and international level made him the ideal candidate to lead the new department.

“The creation of Strategy and Growth was one of the actions to come out of our Organisational Sustainability Review and will play a key role in progressing our region,” Mr Hawson said.

“Peter’s vast and varied experience in the corporate sector, combined with his most recent role with Mildura Regional Development, positions him well to lead a team responsible for the strategic growth of our community and our region.”

Peter will begin in the role on Monday 23 October and oversee the transition of economic development and tourism to Mildura Rural City Council.
