Council appoints new CEO

Whitehorse City Council has appointed Simon McMillan as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr McMillan has extensive local government experience, having been CEO at Banyule City Council for 12 years. He also has extensive experience in strategic and statutory urban planning.

Whitehorse Mayor Councillor Bill Bennett congratulated Simon on his appointment.

“Our CEO recruitment process was very robust and thorough. We had a number of strong candidates and are very pleased with the outcome,” Cr Bennett said.

“Mr McMillan has built a positive organisational culture and high levels of community satisfaction during his time at Banyule. He has delivered on improved use of technology, self-help processes, and business productivity. He also has a solid history of successful advocacy.”

Mr McMillan said he was delighted to have the opportunity to work with councillors and staff.

“As a long term resident of Whitehorse, I know it is a great place and I look forward to working together for the benefit of the community,” Mr McMillan said.

Mr McMillan will commence in the role on 2 September.
