At its February 2024 meeting, Council approved the request from the Leeton Rugby League Football Club (LRLFC) to name the existing unnamed stand at Leeton No 1 Oval the “Bill Arnold Stand”.

Mayor Cr Tony Reneker said the decision was unanimous and followed a recent user group meeting at which all codes supported the proposal. Mayor Reneker recognised Bill Arnold’s extensive contribution to not only the LRLFC but the Leeton No 1 Oval facility in general.

“Bill Arnold has had a long association as a player, coach, and President of the LRLFC and has contributed heavily to the various improvements and developments that have occurred at the facility in recent years.”

“Bill, through his construction business, and as previous Club President, has been responsible for the construction of the extensive amenities’ facility (2015), seating for both the existing stands (2017) and the new kiosk (2020),” he said.

The “Bill Arnold Stand” will receive a sign with the size and style to be similar to the already named “Frank Fiumara Stand” which is located adjacent to it.

There are no financial implications for Council and all costs will be covered by the Leeton Rugby League Football Club.
