Trivia, a digital writing workshop, outdoor cinema, clothes swap event, African drumming, mindfulness, skateboarding and a fun run are just some of the FREE activities happening as part of The Hills Shire’s Youth Week 2022 program.
The celebration, which starts on April 4 and continues through to April 14, provides young people aged 12 to 24 years, with the opportunity to share their ideas, attend live events and showcase their talents, as well as celebrate their contributions to region.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said this year’s Youth Week theme – It’s up to YOUth – was fitting.
“The Hills, the rest of NSW and even around the world, are going through some really difficult times. Yet, our young people remain resilient in the face of adversity and hardship. In fact, they are taking action to help their local community and to also inspire their peers and others to do the same,” Mayor Gangemi said.
“They are leading efforts, shaping, creating solutions and even solving problems to make the world a better place to live.
“That’s why this Council is getting behind Youth Week. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our young people for all their hard work, especially throughout the last few years, which have been nothing short of tough,” Mayor Gangemi added.
