City of Parramatta Council is welcoming back residents to its facilities over the coming weeks in line with the NSW Government’s easing of COVID restrictions.
I am thrilled to announce that Council will begin reopening the doors of its libraries, community halls, Customer Contact Centre, Heritage and Visitor Information Centre, and other facilities from today,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Steven Issa said.
“To keep us all safe, all visitors to these facilities are required to adhere to the health and safety conditions of each site. That includes using QR codes to check in, wearing masks while indoors, and showing evidence of vaccination or medical exemption upon entry.”
MONDAY 18 OCTOBER
Council’s Customer Contact Centre
Council’s Customer Contact Centre over-the-counter service will be open to fully vaccinated members of the public 9am‒3pm weekdays, however customers are encouraged to continue to use Council’s online and phone services (1300 617 058). Council’s phone service operates 8:30am‒4:30pm weekdays.
Community Rooms & Halls
Council’s community rooms and halls will reopen to hirers under specific health and safety conditions. All attendees must be fully vaccinated, wear a mask while indoors and check in using the QR code.
Community Sport
Council’s sportsgrounds are open for community sport, for both summer competition and training. All participants over the age of 16 must be fully vaccinated. Clubs and sport associations are required to have provided COVID Safe Plans relevant to their sport.
TUESDAY 19 OCTOBER
Libraries
Council libraries at Carlingford, Constitution Hill, Dundas, Ermington, as well as the Wentworth Point Community Centre and Library, will reopen to the public. Parramatta and Epping libraries have already reopened. All visitors are required to be fully vaccinated and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is fully vaccinated.
The libraries are registered as COVID Safe facilities, and visitors must comply with health and safety requirements, including QR code check-in and wearing a mask.
Parramatta Heritage & Visitor Information Centre
Parramatta Heritage & Visitor Centre will be open 10am‒4pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Visitors must be fully vaccinated, wear a mask while on site and check in using the QR code.
Riverside Theatres
Riverside Theatres will reopen from 21October with a cinema program that kicks off with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Live performances will resume on Saturday 6 November with a concert by Australian tenor Mark Vincent, The Impossible Dream, guest starring Clarissa Spata. Theatre patrons must be fully vaccinated, wear a mask while in the venue, and check in with the QR code.
Riverside Theatres is registered as a COVID Safe facility.
MONDAY 25 OCTOBER
Macarthur Girls High School Pool
Macarthur Girls High School Pool will reopen to fully vaccinated members only. Specific health and safety conditions are in place, including social distancing requirements (one person per four square metres) and QR code check-in. As per normal services, this pool is only open for lap swimming and classes. Check the Council website for details and opening hours.
The pool is registered as a COVID Safe facility.
Bushcare Volunteer Program
Parramatta’s Bushcare Volunteer Program will resume at Bushcare sites across the Parramatta Local Government Area. Groups will be limited to 20 people and participants must be fully vaccinated. A COVID Safety Plan for the Bushcare Program has been developed in line with the guidance provided by NSW Health.
The COVID safe restrictions across Council’s facilities will remain in place until December, unless otherwise advised by the NSW Government.
