Council services during COVID-19 conditions

Effective Thursday 19 March, the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters will be taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of our community as part of its response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) conditions by limiting, postponing or cancelling services and events.

Mayor Robert Bria says that the Council has been regularly monitoring updates regarding COVID-19 as the safety and well-being of our citizens, staff and Volunteers remains our highest priority.

“As is the case for State and Federal Governments, Local Government also has a ‘duty of care’ for its citizens and must act responsibly to minimise the spread of COVID-19.”

As part of the proactive review of Council services, several changes have been implemented to various Council services, programs and operations, all of which are subject to ongoing review.

“At this stage, the majority of the community will notice minimal difference to services provided by the Council and the way in which we deliver them.”

Waste collection, street sweeping and field services will continue as normal, while the Council’s three Libraries and Norwood Town Hall offices will remain open at this stage.

“At this time and after careful deliberation, the decision has been made to keep the Payneham Memorial and Norwood Swimming Centres open given the season for these facilities close on 22 March and 12 April respectively.”

However, the Council will be limiting gatherings of people to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and the associated risk to our community, employees and Volunteers. Effective from today, Thursday 19 March, the following changes will be implemented:
