Six teenagers have been charged following a pursuit in the state’s south this morning.
About 1.45am today (Monday 14 September 2026), officers from Monaro Police District were patrolling Cooma Street, Queanbeyan, when they attempted to stop a four-wheel drive for random testing.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through the Queanbeyan CBD before turning onto the Kings Highway, towards Bungendore and entering the ACT.
The pursuit re-entered NSW and road spikes were successfully deployed on the Kings Highway with the pursuit continuing into Bungendore township.
The four-wheel drive stopped on Bungendore Road and the driver – a 16-year-old girl – and five passengers were arrested.
All six were taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, where the 16-year-old girl was charged with:
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed,
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner,
- Receive etc property stolen outside NSW more than $15000,
- Learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester, and
- Not comply conditions of licence.
She was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today.
The other teenagers – two boys and a girl aged 15, and two 16-year-old boys – were charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner.
They were granted conditional bail to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 26 October 2026.
Police will allege the vehicle was stolen from an ACT address on Saturday 12 September 2026.
