Council to welcomed twelve new citizens

Central Goldfields Shire welcomed twelve new citizens with a Citizenship Ceremony on Thursday 27 July, in Maryborough.

The twelve residents from Sweden, the United Kingdom, India, the Philippines and Vietnam will became Australian citizens at the ceremony.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Grace La Vella said it was an honour to officiate the Citizenship Ceremony.

“Congratulations to those becoming Australian citizens, it’s been a privilege to welcome our newest citizens to the Australian community.

“Whether born here or deciding to call Australia their home, citizenship is a common bond uniting all Australians.

“This will be remembered as a special day for all those involved.”

Council administers Citizenship Ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.

Attending a Citizenship Ceremony is the final step in becoming an Australian citizen and receiving a Certificate of Australian Citizenship.

The ceremony fulfils the requirements under Australian citizenship law and allows the Council to welcome its new citizens officially.
