Police have recently issued a number of fines and arrested a woman in relation to breaches of COVID-19 directions.
At around 12.30pm on Tuesday 5 May, Port Augusta Police were called to a residence in the township following a complaint regarding a large gathering and excessive noise. On arrival, patrols located a group of 16 intoxicated adults who were all issued individual on the spot fines in the amount of $1060 each.
Then just before 10pm on the same day, Limestone Coast Police (acting on information from the public) attended a licenced premises in the State’s south-east. On arrival, police discovered the front doors open with the licensee and four customers sitting within the bar area consuming alcohol. Four adults were each issued an on the spot fine in the amount of $1060 and the corporation was issued a fine of $5060.
Police have also arrested a woman following alleged breaches of COVID-19 directions. Police will allege the woman left Adelaide during a period (April) when she was required to self-quarantine. On 6 May, the woman returned to Adelaide at which time she was issued with an on the spot fine for breaching the previous direction and was further issued with a fresh direction to self-quarantine at an address nominated by her. It will be further alleged the woman visited another address in the eastern suburbs prior to arriving at her nominated address. Later that same day, police attended the nominated address in the northern suburbs and discovered the woman was not present and subsequently located her a short time later at another northern suburbs address.
The 26-year-old from the northern suburbs was arrested and charged with three counts of failing to comply with a direction and has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 30 October.
