COVID 19 forces temporary closure of roads and day visitor areas

All roads, car parks and day use areas in Munmorah State Conservation Area will be temporarily closed to vehicles to support measures to protect the community from spread of COVID-19.

Part of the state’s COVID-19 response, the closures will take effect from 6pm Monday 6 April until further notice.

The move is in line with state-wide closures of all NPWS campgrounds and some high-use day visitor areas in national parks across NSW and means that vehicle access to Munmorah State Conservation Area will not be permitted.

This includes vehicle (including motor bike) access to Birdie and Frazer beaches, Freemans and Frazer camping areas, Snapper Point, Wybung Head and all picnic areas in the reserve.

All amenities blocks and picnic facilities within day use areas will also be unavailable.

People can still visit Munmorah State Conservation Area to access the beach by walking or cycling.

Patrols in the area will continue and further restrictions may be required.

The closure is in response to tighter Australian and NSW Government health directives on social distancing and non-essential travel to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the wider community, and to support social distancing to protect against the spread of COVID-19.
