COVID-19 – Infringement Notices 9 July

Northern Territory Police have issued a further four quarantine infringement notices.

A 48-year-old woman in Moulden, a 62-year-old man in Darwin City and an 18-year-old woman in Alice Springs were reported to police to be leaving their accommodation instead of quarantining. They were all unable to provide a lawful justification as to why they were not quarantining and each was issued a fine.

A 34-year-old man arrived in the Territory on Tuesday 7 July and travelled to his place of employment in Adelaide River. It was later identified that the man had no exemption in place and was issued a fine by police.

The infringement penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011 is $1,106 for an individual and $5,530 for a business.

NT Police and Environmental Health Officers continue to undertake compliance activities.

24,078 compliance checks have now been completed and 125 fines issued.
