COVID-19 Moe Early Learning Centre Update

Latrobe City Council has been advised that a second staff member, who works solely from the Moe Early Learning Centre, has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The positive result follows initial advice, received on Sunday, from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regarding a positive test result.

The affected staff member has not been identified as a close contact to the other case at the Moe Early Learning Centre and did not attend work displaying symptoms.

We understand that this will cause further concern for families whose children attend the service and our staff. Since being advised of the positive test this morning, management has contacted families and staff who access and work at the centre.

Latrobe City Council has assisted DHHS with their initial contact tracing and will continue to do so following this confirmed case.

DHHS has advised that all children and staff are requested to remain at home while contact tracing occurs.

Appropriate deep cleaning of the entire centre, as per DHHS recommendation and requirements, has commenced and will be completed in the coming days. The service will remain closed until further notice.
