The Emergency Management (Arrivals—Associated Direction No 6) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced with Emergency Management (Arrivals—Associated Direction No 7) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. It came into effect at 11:56 am on 15 December 2021

International Arrivals who enter South Australia must now complete 7 days of quarantine as directed. This is reduced from 14 days.

International arrivals must also:

– COVID-19 test within 72 hours before departure.

– COVID-19 test within 24 hours of arrival in SA

– COVID-19 test on days 6 and 13

– Daily symptom check for 14 days after arrival using HealthCheck SA

– No entry to high risk settings for 14 days after arrival

– No entry to COVID Management Plan events for 14 days after arrival

Other existing requirements remain.

Meanwhile the Emergency Management (Forensic Science SA Vaccination) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been created. This Direction came into effect at 1.08 pm on 15 December 2021.

The Direction includes the following requirements:

From 20 December 2021, Forensic Science SA employees who engages in work or performs duties in a Forensic Science SA facility must:

  • Have received at least one dose of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved COVID-19 vaccination;
  • Have received or has evidence of a booking to receive a second dose of a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccine within the timeframes outlined by Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) guidelines;
  • Provide the Director of Forensic Science SA or delegate proof of their vaccination status upon request after 20 December 2021.

The above also refers to all people who attend the Forensic Science SA facility incidentally, such as delivery drivers or suppliers.

Any other person must not attend the Forensic Science SA facility from 20 December unless they are fully vaccinated (full course of a TGA approved or recognised vaccine) and must provide to the Director of Forensic Science SA or delegate proof of vaccination status on request.

Unvaccinated persons must not enter the Forensic Science SA facility from 20 December 2021, unless:

  • They have a medical certificate or a letter from a legally qualified medical practitioner certifying that the person:
    • Has a medical exemption from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine on either a permanent or temporary basis in accordance with guidelines published by ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation).
    • Has a medical exemption on either a permanent or temporary basis from receiving the preferred vaccine as recommended by ATAGI for the person’s age
    • Has an appointment to be assessed by a medical specialist or has started an assessment to determine if they have a medical exemption;

and;

  • The certificate or letter specifies the nature of the exemption and the basis on which it applies; and
  • The Chief Public Health Officer or her delegate has endorsed the exemption; and
  • The person must provide the operator of the Forensic Science SA facility with a copy of the endorsement.
