Critical incident declared after crash- Frenchs Forest

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a man was injured in Sydney’s north.

Around 9.25pm yesterday (Saturday 23 December 2023), officers from Traffic & Highway Patrol Command were patrolling along Warringah Road, Frenchs Forest, when they attempted to stop a motor cycle.

Officers briefly activated warning lights on the police vehicle which were terminated, and no pursuit was initiated due to safety reasons.

A short time later the motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Sorlie Road, Frenchs Forest.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male rider – aged 22 – before taking him to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle – a man aged 63 and a 33-year-old female passenger – were uninjured.

The man was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established that was later examined by specialist police.

A critical incident team from The Hills Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

That investigation will be subject to an independent review.
