Critical incident launched after fatal crash, NSW

A critical incident investigation has been launched after a fatal crash in Tuggerah Lakes.

About 2.30am (Thursday 16 April 2020), an officer from Tuggerah Lakes Police District saw a motorbike being ridden along the Motorway Link on the wrong side of the road and without lights.

The officer directed the rider to stop; however, he continued onto Blue Haven Way, followed by the officer, where there has been a collision involving the two vehicles.

The rider, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene.

The Crash Investigation Unit has been called to the scene.

A critical incident team from Brisbane Water PD will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the crash.

The officer has been taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

That investigation will be subject to independent review and all information will be provided to the Coroner.

Blue Haven Way is currently closed to all traffic and motorists need to use Sparks Road and the Pacific Highway to get into Blue Haven.
