NEW SES Western Zone HQ opens, strengthening emergency response across regional NSW

The NSW Government’s investment of $3.5 million to the purpose-built facility, marks a major milestone in emergency services infrastructure, strengthening the NSW SES’s ability to prepare for, coordinate and respond to disasters across one of the largest regions in the state.

The $6.6 million new Western Zone Headquarters replaces a building that had served the organisation since the 1980s and now includes a dedicated Level 3 Incident Control Centre capable of accommodating more than 50 personnel during major emergencies.

The space includes dedicated planning, operations and logistics areas, flood rescue coordination facilities, media and briefing rooms, and space for training and community engagement.

A secure warehouse space for vehicles, rescue boats and emergency supplies also forms part of the facility, enabling resources to be deployed quickly to remote and isolated communities when needed.

Designed to meet the demands of contemporary emergency management, the state-of-the-art building gives staff and volunteers the infrastructure they need to respond to more frequent, complex and prolonged weather emergencies.

NSW SES Western Zone covers an area that is 49 per cent of the state and supports communities across 22 local government areas, including major river systems, flood-prone communities and critical agricultural regions.

The facility will strengthen the NSW SES’s ability to coordinate large-scale emergency operations, including flood response, aviation support, logistics and community resupply.
