Cyclist hit by car, NSW

Emergency services remain at the scene of a crash involving a cyclist in Sydney’s Northern Beaches earlier today.

Just before 7.20am (Friday 15 November 2019), police were called to the intersection of Barrenjoey Road and Bassett Street at Mona Vale, following reports a cyclist had been hit by a car.

The male cyclist suffered a broken arm and fractured ankle. He has been taken to Northern Beaches Hospital by ambulance paramedics.

The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command, with assistance from the Crash investigation Unit, have established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Two out of three southbound lanes of Barrenjoey Road are closed, and significant traffic delays are expected. Motorists are urged to check www.livetraffic.com for updates.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information, or dashcam footage from the area, is urged to come forward.
