Dangerous Driving Charges at Yarrabilba, QLD

Police have charged a man following a theft and traffic crash at Yarrabilba yesterday.

Just after 8pm on Sunday 2 August, a man allegedly attended a Fletcher Street address and stole a tyre.

The man was then seen driving off in a black Ford Fairmont bearing stolen licence plates.

Just before 8:30pm police were responding to the reported theft, when members of the public led them to the Ford Fairmont.

It will be alleged the driver has then swerved towards a member of the public, before driving into a police vehicle on Pinnacles Street.

The member of the public sustained minor injuries and did not require transport to hospital.

Two police officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old Logan Village, man was taken to hospital for assessment.

He has been charged with one count each of stealing, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, damaging an emergency vehicle, receiving tainted property, driving unregistered and uninsured, and assault.

The man is expected to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 3 August.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact police.
