Darwin’s First Christmas Pageant!

NT Government

This year, Darwin city will welcome its newest festive event – the Christmas Pageant, launching the magic of the Christmas season in the heart of the city.

This merry new initiative is led by the Northern Territory Government in partnership with City of Darwin.

The Darwin Christmas Pageant is a parade which will run through the Darwin CBD streets. It will begin at 5pm on Saturday 19 November, and will celebrate the rich and diverse culture in the Top End.

To help Territorians get into the Christmas spirit the Territory Government is offering grants of up to $500 to help community groups create walking or vehicle floats to take part in the Pageant.

The Pageant is open to schools, businesses, charities, community groups, sporting clubs, and multicultural groups.

It will mark the beginning of the Festive season in Darwin and will be followed by a fun-filled schedule of Christmas activities such as the Christmas tree lighting, a city-wide light trail and performances across the town.

Expressions of Interest for float participation are now open and close on 30 September, with up to 50 floats able to take part in the event.
