Darwin Vaccination Centre expands to offer flu jab for children

NT Government

The Darwin Vaccination Centre in Marrara will add to its operations on Tuesday, to help protect some of the Territory’s most vulnerable against influenza (flu), in a three week blitz ahead of the clinic’s closure.

With an increase in cases of flu in recent weeks, the centre will provide free flu vaccinations for all children aged six months to under five years old.

Children in this age group are at greater risk of developing severe flu and can access the flu vaccine for free under the Commonwealth Government’s National Immunisation Plan.

Currently, only 17 per cent of children in the Northern Territory aged six months to under five years old have had the flu vaccine.

The last day of operations for the Darwin Vaccination Centre will be Thursday, 30 June, 2022.

Until this date, the centre will also continue to provide COVID-19 vaccinations for eligible Territorians five years and older.

Bookings for the flu vaccination can be made using the NT COVID-19 vaccine booking system.

Walk-ins will be accepted at the Darwin Vaccination Clinic however, prioritisation will be given to those with booked appointments.

The Darwin Vaccination Centre opening hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm from Monday to Thursday, 9:00am to 4:00pm on Friday and 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday.

The flu vaccine is also available in the NT at participating GP clinics, pharmacies, respiratory clinics and Aboriginal health clinics. The COVID-19 vaccine and the flu vaccine can be given at the same time.

Flu vaccination appointments can be booked from 13 to 30 June 2022. Book now here
