An investigation is underway after a man dies following an assault in Sydney’s north west overnight.
About 1.15am today (Friday 4 September 2026), emergency services were called to a unit block on Lister Avenue, Ermington, following reports of an assault.
Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended and found a man – believed to be aged in his 40’s – with serious injuries.
Police commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and took the man to hospital, where he died shortly upon arrival.
He is yet to be formally identified.
A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Gladesville Police Station where inquiries are continuing.
A crime scene has been established and investigations commenced into the circumstances of the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
