Death of 11-month old girl

Major Crime Division officers will continue their investigation into the death of an 11 month old girl in Darch on 14 April 2021.

Around 5:45pm, SJA were called to a school near Carripan Road in Darch, responding to a call relating to an unresponsive 11-month-old girl at that location.

The mother of the girl had taken her inside a building at the school to seek assistance, after finding her unresponsive in her vehicle.

Members of the public who were at the school attempted CPR prior to SJA arrival. SJA also made further attempts to resuscitate the girl, however she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Officers from the Major Crime Division attended the scene, and will continue to investigate the events and circumstances leading up the girl’s death.

Part of this investigation has involved talking with the child’s 39 year old mother. She was taken into custody, however has since been released pending further inquiries.
