Delivering for Tasmanians in 2022 and beyond

Michael Ferguson,Leader of the House

The Tasmanian Liberal Government team has been working hard throughout the Summer, and is energised and looking forward to getting on with the job of delivering our plan to secure Tasmania’s future when the 50th Parliament resumes on Tuesday.

Once again we will be working hard for Tasmanians on our vision endorsed by Tasmanians at the 2021 State Election.

We will hit the ground running when we deliver our further plan for the year ahead in the Premier’s State of the State address on Tuesday.

The sitting schedule will be in line with previous non-election years with the House of Assembly sitting for 15 weeks and the Legislative Council for 14 weeks (not including Budget Estimates).

This week, the House will also pause to remember the precious young lives lost at the Hillcrest Primary School tragedy.

On Thursday the House will acknowledge Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

In particular, I congratulate Lara Alexander on her election as Liberal Member for Bass who will be sworn in on Tuesday morning. I have enjoyed working with Lara on a range of initiatives to support people in need, and creating more social housing. Lara will be a very positive addition to the Liberal team and the Parliament.

While we are delivering for Tasmanians, the bitterly divided Labor party will no doubt use the year to whinge and complain about everything, while offering no credible solutions of their own.

The State Budget will be handed down on Thursday May 26, 2022.
