Detectives appeal for information after armed robbery and carjacking, NSW

Detectives investigating the armed robbery and carjacking of a man in Sydney’s south earlier this year are appealing to the community for information that may assist with their inquiries.

Just before 3am on Sunday 22 June 2020, emergency services were called to a unit complex on Bay Street at Brighton Le Sands, following reports a 45-year-old man had been assaulted.

Police were told that three unknown men, all armed with weapons, physically assaulted the man, before stealing his vehicle – a late model red Mustang Coupe.

Officers from St George Police Area Command, together with detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Tremere.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone in community who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

All three men have been described to police as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance and aged in their early 20’s.

One man is further described as being of an obese build, with a ponytail.

The other two men are further described as being of medium build and wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Investigators are also appealing for anyone who may have seen a late model red Mustang Coupe in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
