Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie said the storm caused significant impacts across the Northern Beaches. One woman died and two others were critically injured following the disaster event.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those impacted by this tragic event,” Minister McKenzie said.

“We have acted quickly to activate disaster recovery assistance to help the local community with the clean-up.

“The Australian and NSW Government are working closely to provide the Northern Beaches community with the support it needs.”

New South Wales Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience the Hon Steph Cooke said that the storm had caused significant damage within a short window, resulting in hundreds of calls for assistance to the NSW State Emergency Service.

“I would like to reiterate our thanks to the emergency services staff and volunteers who have been out on the ground providing immediate support to people whose properties have been impacted,” Minister Cooke said.

Assistance available under the DRFA may include:

  • Help for eligible people whose homes or belongings have been damaged (eligibility criteria apply)

  • Concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations.
