Domestic and Family Violence Action Plan 2023: Bayside

Bayside Council has endorsed the updated Draft Domestic and Family Violence Action Plan 2023-2026 that will now on public exhibition for 28 days.

A draft Domestic and Family Violence Action Plan was presented to the May 2023 City Services Committee meeting but, given the changes made to the plan, it was decided to put it back on public exhibition.

“Bayside Council is committed to preventing domestic and family violence and promoting gender equality,” Mayor Dr Christina Curry said.

“While ending domestic and family violence is everyone’s responsibility, our work with individuals, families, community organisations and groups, sporting and recreation clubs, and cultural and religious groups means we are well placed to address community wellbeing.”

Local government plays a key role in promoting healthy and safe environments. Councils are comprised of civic leaders with diverse connections with community members which provide opportunities for local primary prevention strategies that reach a broad range of people across a variety of settings.

Bayside Council’s Action Plan is designed to underpin the Community Safety Strategy 2022-2026 and leverage local government’s unique position in having extensive reach, influence and access across our local community through the various services and facilities Bayside Council provides.
