Sealed Lips, a local band is set to release their first music video which they produced themselves.

Ruby Hill and Alex Shaw were both born and raised in Alice Springs, and attended Centralian Senior College, today, they are better known as Sealed Lips, an up-and-coming garage pop-rock band.

The band is set to release their first music video ‘Endless Nights’ which they filmed, edited, and produced all on their own, thanks to the courses and lecturers from Charles Darwin University.

The band formed in high School where they met during their Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools block. Since their inception the band has played numerous local gigs and has begun to book some larger events including Charles Darwin University Graduation, Desert Festival, opened for legendary Australia rock act Regurgitator and most recently supported touring act, Kingswood.

Now Ruby, 19 and Alex, 18, are on their way to completing a Certificate IV in Music Studies through CDU.

Alex specifically focused on honing his skills in media and technical production to help finalise their music video.

“For part of the course I was able to work on the music video,” Alex said.

“The instructors were always there to offer their feedback, and really helped me to understand areas where it could be improved.

“Following the course, I understood more of what audiences would like and was able to make the right cuts in the film to help capture the movement and energy that we wanted.”

Their single ‘Endless nights’ which was written by Ruby, is a song about letting go and having some fun.

“This is the first time we’ve shot a music video and we wanted it to capture the essence of the song.

“It’s about having a good time and getting that endorphin rush of not being sure where a night is going to take you,” Ruby said.

Both students said that throughout their musical journey they would not be where they are today if it had not been for the guidance provided by CDU Alice Springs Contemporary Music lecturer Cain Gilmour.

“Cain has always been such a great mentor and I don’t think we could be where we are now without his expertise, guidance and constant support,” the duo said.

The band is incredibly excited to share their music video with everyone, which will be available for viewing from midday on Friday 9th of February at Sealed Lips – YouTube.

“We love music and what we do, and we hope that our sound and style can be heard and enjoyed by everyone.”

Sealed Lips will be performing live on 8CCC Radio at 8.30 am on Friday 16 February, tune in for a listen.
