Patients young and old across the Wide Bay region are set to benefit from almost $1m of new medical equipment at Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg.
The huge investment is being funded by Mater Foundation – the charity which funds new equipment, services and research across the state’s Mater hospitals.
The $993,000 package is the biggest boost the hospital has ever received from Mater Foundation and on June 28 Wide Bay residents will have the chance to add even more to the total on Mater Giving Day.
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg General Manager Catherine Hackney said all donations from the community on Mater Giving Day would be tripled by match donors.
“Mater Giving Day is the day when the community can give to make good things happen for our patients,” Ms Hackney said.
“Mater Foundation does an amazing job of supporting hospitals like ours deliver high-quality, compassionate care to the community.
“This year we have been blessed by the amount of support we are receiving from Mater Foundation, so we’re incredibly grateful to every donor.
“We’re soon to receive $400,000 of specialist ENT equipment and four new paediatric beds that will enable us to enhance the ENT care we provide for children across the region.
“We’re also taking delivery of new spinal surgery equipment and a new urodynamics system to assist the many women who suffer urinary incontinence.
“None of this would be possible without the generosity of kind-hearted Queenslanders.”
Staff at Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg will be giving back on Mater Giving Day too – holding morning teas and cake sales for visitors, patients and colleagues.
Mater Foundation Chief Executive Andrew Thomas said Mater Giving Day was a time to celebrate the extraordinary people and impact of Mater – the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in Queensland.
“Mater is one of Queensland’s most loved not-for-profit organisations and every donation we receive makes a difference to our patients and the community,” Mr Thomas said.
“Mater Giving Day unites Mater staff, patients, loved ones and supporters with gratitude to deliver life-saving medical equipment, research, education and healthcare throughout Queensland.
“This year our generous Matched Givers have pledged to triple every single dollar raised by the community – so the impact of community fundraising will make a truly incredible difference to Mater patients.”
