Draft Lennox Head Strategic Plan on public exhibition

Draft Lennox Head Strategic Plan on public exhibition

Following extensive community consultation, Ballina Shire Council has developed the Draft Lennox Head Strategic Plan 2023-2043.

The plan will guide Council’s strategic planning and decision making relating to Lennox Head and Skennars Head over the next 20 years, assigning actions and responsibilities to achieve the community’s vision.

A Draft Lennox Head Planning and Environmental Study (LHPES) has also been prepared and helped to inform the Strategic Plan. Both documents are now on public exhibition at yoursayballina.com.au

“The vision and actions in this Draft Strategic Plan will guide Council’s decisions when it comes to prioritising services and projects for the Lennox Head and Skennars Head areas, and how these are budgeted for in our delivery program,” said Council’s Manager Strategic Planning, Tara McGready.

“There are no new proposed urban release areas in the draft plan, all growth areas within the plan were identified in the previous Lennox Head Community Aspirations Strategic Plan 2002.”

The community vision in the draft Lennox Head Strategic Plan has four key elements:

  • Maintain and enhance local character, the ‘village feel’ and sense of community.
  • Respect and enhance our cultural heritage and natural environment.
  • Encourage a strong, diverse community.
  • Foster diverse, local employment servicing opportunities.

“This Draft Strategic Plan was informed by four months of extensive community consultation. We are now in the final phase of community engagement for the public, so it’s important that the community reads the plan and provides their feedback,” said Ms McGready

“Following public exhibition, we will make any necessary final changes as a result of community feedback and submissions, and then it will go back to Council for adoption.”
