Drilling has begun on Dalby Bore

Drilling has begun on a new bore at Dalby which will tap into the Great Artesian Basin to cater for the town’s growing population.

The Western Downs is welcoming more and more families and businesses to our region as our major industries of agriculture, intensive agriculture, manufacturing and energy continue to develop and succeed.

The $1 million bore was announced in the 2018 Western Downs Regional Council Budget and will secure water supply to the growing community of Dalby.

Council Spokesperson for Utilities Councillor Peter Saxelby said the project would ensure great liveability for years to come.

“Dalby is a growing community and in drilling this bore, Council is ensuring we can cater to all our residents with top quality infrastructure and services,” he said.

“The Western Downs region is a great and affordable place to live, work and play and this bore will help to guarantee that into the future as our communities continue to grow.

“It’s been a dry few years in the Western Downs and although we can’t make it rain, this 950-metre-deep bore will tap into the Great Artesian Basin as the next logical step in increasing our water supply.”

Chinchilla contractor Dynamic Drilling has been hired for the job, which is expected to be completed by the end of June 2019.
