Drink-driver collides with divisional van at Wodonga

Wodonga officers had a lucky escape after an alleged drink-driver collided with their divisional van in Wodonga this morning.

Officers had intercepted a silver 2008 Holden commodore sedan in Morrison St, about 1.57am this morning.

It is alleged the driver, a 25-year-old Wodonga man, placed his vehicle into reverse instead of park during the intercept and collided with the police divisional van.

The collision was minor in nature and thankfully the police members were not injured.

The driver was required to accompany police to the police station for an evidentiary breath test where he provided an alleged reading of 0.187.

His vehicle has been impounded for a period of 30 days with towing costs of $1,115.

The Wodonga man has booked himself a date with a Magistrate to explain his actions and is expected to be charged on summons with traffic related offences.

Sergeant O’Keefe of Wodonga Police was perplexed by the incident.

“This is very concerning. This is the second high range drink-driver caught in Wodonga this week.

Thankfully no one was injured or killed tonight.”
