Police have charged a man with drink driving and other traffic offences in Ayr on Sunday afternoon, 20 September.
At 4pm, police were parked on Graham Street when a white Ford Falcon with a dog inside the tray allegedly performed a burnout in front of the unmarked police vehicle.
Police intercepted the utility on Drysdale Street.
The driver, a 45-year-old Ayr man, returned an alcohol reading of 0.198.
He was charged with one count each of drive under the influence of liquor, wilfully make unnecessary smoke, drive unregistered vehicle, drive uninsured vehicle, unlicenced driving, and animal cruelty.
He is expected to appear in the Ayr Magistrates Court on 19 October.
Police also confiscated the registration plates for a period of 90 days.
Senior Sergeant Lisa Shields said this behaviour is not harmless.
“This is deliberate driving conduct that can put lives at risk and undermines community safety,” Senior Sergeant Lisa Shields said.
“The consequences of this dangerous behaviour can be catastrophic.
“Ayr Police are committed to targeting dangerous driving offences through high-visibility patrols and strong enforcement action.”
