Driver arrested after high-speed pursuit across western suburbs

A man has been arrested overnight following a pursuit across the western suburbs.

At about 9.30pm on Wednesday, 24 June, police spotted a stolen Subaru sedan driving on Henley Beach Road, Henley Beach.

PolAir quickly took over tracking the vehicle as it was driven through back streets at excessive speeds, allegedly reaching speeds of 100 km/h.

Road spikes were successfully deployed at the intersection of Hammond Road and Crittendon Road however the car continued to drive with a blown tyre before being dumped in Beverley.

The driver, a 29-year-old Beverley man, was arrested. He was charged with numerous offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving and possession of an offensive weapon, after police further located a knife in the car.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today, Thursday 25 June.

The stolen vehicle was towed for forensic examination.
