Driver arrested after stolen car crashes at Parafield

A man has been arrested after he crashed a stolen car at Parafield last night.

About 7.45pm on Monday 7 August, police responded to reports of a two-car crash at the corner of Kings Road and Cross Keys Road.

One of the vehicles involved, a red Toyota RAV4, had only been stolen from Gilles Plains about ten minutes prior to the crash.

A woman had been getting into her parked car on Tasman Avenue, Gilles Plains when she was approached by a man who allegedly pushed her and stole her keys before driving off in her RAV4.

The 48-year-old woman was shaken but not physically injured during the incident.

The driver of the stolen car, a 21-year-old man from Modbury, was arrested and taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the other car involved in the crash, a 27-year-old Fairview Park woman, was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The RAV4 will undergo forensic examination.

The Modbury man was later charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and driving in a manner dangerous to the public and will face court when able.
