A person has died following a two-truck crash in the state’s south this morning.
About 4.10am today (Friday 17 July 2026), emergency services were called to the northbound lanes of the Hume Highway at Breadalbane, about 32km south- west of Goulburn, near Breadalbane Road, following reports of a heavy vehicle crash and fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW responded and extinguished the blaze. Both trucks were destroyed.
Police have been told the road train had broken down on the Hume Highway, when a B-double carrying aerosol cans – collided with a rear of the truck.
The driver of a road train – a 31-year-old man – was treated at the scene for minor injuries, before being taken to Yass hospital for mandatory testing.
The body of the second driver was located. They are yet to be formally identified.
Officers attached to Hume Police District commenced inquiries, with assistance from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.
The Hume Highway at Breadalbane has reopened in both directions with a contra-flow in place, around the crash site.
