Driver in court over high-range PCA, NSW

A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught driving more than three times the legal limit and resisting arrest in Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Just after 10pm (Saturday 9 May 2020), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Wolli Creek area, when they observed a Ford Falcon driving erratically and nearly crash into an oncoming vehicle on West Botany Street.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 42-year-old man.

The man underwent a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

As he was being arrested, the man allegedly became aggressive and resisted police; causing one officer to sustain minor injuries.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis test and allegedly returned a reading of 0.183.

The Chifley man was charged with drive with high-range PCA, and assault police.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 10 May 2020).

The man’s licence was also suspended.
