Drugs, cash and weapons seized in Werribee

The arrest of a man causing trouble at a shopping centre led to a significant seizure of drugs and cash in Werribee yesterday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a man behaving erratically at the Heaths Road shopping centre about 3.30pm.

A 38-year-old Avondale Heights man was located at the scene and detained.

Officers searched the man and found $3000 in cash, along with the keys to a Mercedes which was found in the shopping centre carpark.

In the boot of the Mercedes police allegedly found commercial quantities of heroin and methamphetamine along with lesser amounts of ecstasy and cannabis.

Police also located a sword and a taser along with more than $30,000 in cash.

The 38-year-old has subsequently been charged with a string of offences including trafficking a commercial quantity of heroin and methamphetamine, possess prohibited weapons and possess proceeds of crime.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.
