A large oil spill Dukes Highway near Keith continues to be a hazard to drivers travelling through the area and speed restrictions will remain in place over the long weekend.
On Thursday 5 March a large amount of what appears to be oil was spilled on the Highway about 15km North West of the Keith Township. Conditions on the road have become very slippery for vehicles, and caused a car towing a caravan to lose control yesterday.
SAPOL is working with DPTI in the area monitoring the speed restrictions and looking at treatments to clean the roadway.
The restrictions are expected to remain in place until Tuesday 10 March and drivers travelling through the area are urged to take care.
