Lismore’s annual street food festival Eat the Street will go ahead as planned this Saturday, 14 March in the Lismore CBD following the federal government’s latest advice about public events and the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced today that all events with more than 500 people can go ahead until Monday, 16 March. He advised that mass gatherings of more 500 people should not go ahead after this date.
Lismore City Council is following the advice of the Prime Minister and the 2020 Eat the Street event will continue as planned.
Council has been working closely with health authorities to take additional precautions which include the promotion of practising good health and hygiene at all times. Council is committed to providing a safe, healthy and enjoyable experience for all involved at the event. However, if people are feeling concerned, they should not attend.
Council has put in place increased hygiene practices including:
- Placement of additional handwash stations at Eat the Street.
- Hand sanitiser across the event precinct.
- Promotion of key public health and hygiene messages.
Council urges festival goers to follow these important measures:
- Maintain a good level of hygiene (handwashing, covering coughs/sneezes).
- Bringing your own hand sanitiser/hand washing products with you to the event and using them regularly.
- Do not attend the event if you are unwell.
- Report any cases of fever, coughing or other flu-like symptoms immediately to your doctor.
- Visit first aid if you have any health concerns at the event.
