Universities Australia welcomes the Albanese Government’s recognition of the role education will continue to play in supporting a stable and prosperous Southeast Asian region into the future.
“The 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit has reinforced education’s central position in Australia’s foreign policy agenda,” Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.
“Education has and will continue to be at the heart of our engagement with our key economic and strategic partners – building bridges between nations and deepening our relationships.
“Educating skilled workers and collaboration in research is key to navigating the various changes in our economic and strategic environment, including climate change and regional security.
“Major announcements this week acknowledge the role universities play in supporting the growth and prosperity of our region, and we look forward to continuing our work, in collaboration with government and industry, for the region’s benefit.”
