- Cook Labor Government delivering more social, community and affordable housing
The Cook Labor Government has delivered eight new social housing apartments in Falcon thanks to a $3.49 million grant awarded to Housing Choices Western Australia.
Constructed by Dale Alcock Projects, the recently completed complex offers two-bedroom, one-bathroom configured apartments across three buildings within the Falcon Village Precinct.
These apartments provide modern, accessible and sustainable homes for Western Australians in need of affordable housing.
All ground floor apartments have been built to Silver Level Livable Housing Australia Design Guidelines, ensuring homes are accessible and can better accommodate the changing needs of residents through different stages of life.
The development also incorporates environmentally sustainable features, including water-wise landscaping using native plants, and the installation of water-efficient fixtures and fittings such as shower heads, tapware and toilets.
Conveniently located close to supermarkets, specialty stores, food outlets and medical facilities, the development also benefits from nearby public transport connections, including bus services and easy access to the Mandurah Train Station.
Housing Choices WA is a community housing provider that manages more than 1,850 properties across Western Australia, providing safe and secure homes for almost 2,000 people who may otherwise struggle to access affordable and appropriate accommodation.
As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:
“Our partnerships with community housing providers, like Housing Choices WA, are helping to ensure more Western Australians have a place to call home.
“These modern apartments will provide residents with high-quality homes close to essential services, public transport and community amenities.
“Importantly, these homes have been designed to adapt to residents’ changing needs over time, supporting greater accessibility and independence.
“This project is part of our record $10.8 billion housing investment since 2021 and is another example of how we are delivering real outcomes for vulnerable Western Australians in need.”
As stated by Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday:
“This project shows what can be achieved when government works closely with community housing providers to deliver practical outcomes.
“I welcome this investment in Falcon and the additional housing opportunities it creates for vulnerable Western Australians.”
